aBi’s 2018 PERFORMANCE AT A GLANCE
2018 was final year of the aBi 2014-2018 Business Plan (BP) and saw strong performance, ensuring that aBi finished this period on a high on most key deliverables for instance exceeding expectations with respect to the number of farmers and agribusinesses benefitting from our work, achieving 124% of the BP target. An independent KPMG review of aBi Development for the 2014-2018 period concluded that most of the BP targets were achieved by end of 2018.
aBi’s 2017 PERFORMANCE AT A GLANCE
Agriculture remains central to economic growth and poverty reduction in Uganda. The sector accounted for 24.9% of GDP in FY 2016/17 and 46% of export earnings. The Uganda Bureau of statistics (UBOS) estimates that about 72% of the country’s working population is employed in agriculture.
It is a source of raw materials for agro-processing businesses, and the sector provides an important domestic market both for non-agricultural and agricultural products.

While 2016 was a challenging year, primarily for aBi Trust, aBi as a whole still made considerable progress towards the goals and objectives laid out in its 2014-2018 Business Plan.

aBi’s 2015 PERFORMANCE AT A GLANCE
In 2015, aBi continued to invest significantly in Uganda’s agricultural sector, in an often difficult and challenging environment. aBi initiated several strategic partnerships to further increase our outreach, impact and efficiency.
