Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi) Trust successfully completed a voluntary wind up process to officially become aBi Development Limited, a company limited by guarantee, at a function held at Sheraton Hotel on 4th December 2019.
This function marked the end of the wind up process of aBi Trust that began in 2018 following a review of aBi Trust in 2017. The decision to wind up the trust aims at making aBi stronger, more efficient in its decision-making and sustainable.
aBi is a social enterprise that channels development cooperation funding to agribusinesses and agricultural service providers in Uganda with the aim of building a competitive, profitable and sustainable agriculture and agribusiness sector in support of equitable wealth creation in Uganda. It currently comprises of aBi Development (formerly aBi Trust) and aBi Finance.
Representatives of Government of Uganda, Development Partners and Implementing Partners attended the wind up function and commended aBi Staff, Management and Board of Trustees on the achievements of the Trust especially, meeting its programmatic targets and disbursement efficiency. In addition, aBi Trust scored admirable successes at the result, outcome, and impact levels of its implementing partners and producers.
