aBi facilitates the 1st Annual Banking Conference

aBi Finance sponsored and participated in the 1st Annual Bankers Conference on 19th July 2017 at Kampala Serena Hotel under the theme, “The Future of Banking”. The event was organized by Uganda Bankers’ Association and it attracted industry experts involved in facilitating and delivering financial and banking service within Uganda and across the East African Region.

The Guest of Honor, H.E. Edward Ssekandi, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, commended all the key players in the financial service sector, including aBi, that are supporting the agricultural sector in Uganda.

The key note address was presented by Prof.  Njuguna Ndungu, the former governor of Central Bank of Kenya. It focused on taking stock and gaining insights from country, regional and global trends, dynamics, drivers and issues in the banking and financial services sector and using these experiences to shape policy interventions, initiatives and strategies to drive and align financial sector development to the national growth and development agenda.

In addition to informing this key note address, Ms. Josephine Mukumbya, Chief Operating Officer, aBi Finance, presented a paper at the conference on “Financing of the agricultural value chain”. She urged participants to ensure that there is increased liquidity for agribusiness development, as well as agribusiness product development within the financial institutions.
