aBi Group participated in the just concluded Northern Uganda Agricultural Business Initiative Expo in Lira District from 10th to 14th April 2017. The expo targeted all agribusiness stakeholders from the Lango Sub Region, Northern Uganda.
The main objective of aBi Group’s participation was to tap the northern Uganda agribusiness window opportunity as a means of expanding its portfolio. The expo also served to further publicize the ongoing call for proposals exercise.
The Expo was officially opened by Hon. Freedom Grace Kwiyucwiny, State Minister in Charge of Northern Uganda. She was accompanied by the area Women’s MP, Hon. Atim Joy Ongom and the Lira District Chairman. The Minister was briefed about all the aBi Group operations and programmes, and the impact aBi Group was making specifically in northern Uganda and the entire country in addressing some of the critical bottlenecks in the agriculture sector particularly, enhancing access to agriculture financing.
The Minister commended aBi Group’s support towards the promotion of private sector agri-business in Uganda. She reiterated that this was facilitating the realization of the Country’s Low Middle Income Status target by 2021. She observed that the value chain development concept was in line with the 2nd National Development Plan.
Currently, aBi Group is supporting the following VCD Implementing Partners in Northern Uganda; KAWACOM (Zombo and Paidha), Uganda Oil Seeds Producers Association (UOSPA), A.K. Oils (Lango & Acholi region), East African Grains Council, GADC (Gulu, Amuru and Nwoya), and Delight (Amuru/ Nwoya).
